Anne Chien APRN Scholarship

 

The Anne Chien Nursing Scholarship was established by CANAP in memory of Anne Chien, FNP.  Anne always exemplified graciousness, integrity, compassion, tranquility, quiet leadership, sincerity, and inner strength.  Applicants for this scholarship should exemplify these qualities.  Any Advanced Practice Registered Nurse student who is a CANAP member and meets the guidelines below is eligible for this CANAP sponsored scholarship. The scholarship is currently $1,000.00. The scholarship is awarded once a year in April.  The application deadline for the April scholarship is March 31. The application packet must be electronically submitted to the Scholarship Committee Chairperson by the established deadlines. Incomplete applications and/or applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. The application packet must include all of the following:

  • Evidence of current enrollment in an APRN program
  • A brief description of how the candidate plans to use the money
  • One full page paper exploring the candidate’s view of what it means to be an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and how you exemplify any of the qualities of graciousness, integrity, compassion, tranquility, quiet leadership, sincerity, and inner strength.
  • A list stating membership to professional organizations
  • Current member of CANAP
  • Proof of Cumulative grade point average greater than 3.0

Continuing Education Scholarship

The CANAP Continuing Education Scholarship was founded with the intent to help members achieve their highest professional goals.  Any Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who is a CANAP member and meets the guidelines below is eligible for this CANAP sponsored scholarship. The scholarship is currently $750.00. The scholarship is awarded twice a year in April and October.  The application deadline for the April scholarship is March 31.  The application deadline for the October scholarship is September 30. The application packet must be submitted electronically to the Scholarship Committee Chairperson by the established deadlines. Incomplete applications and/or applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. The application packet must include all of the following:

  • Evidence of current employment with statement of full-time, part-time, or PRN (i.e. letter from your clinical employer or supervisor)
  • Copy of APRN liscense from your state of practice
  • A brief description of the planned conference or CME, how the CME topic is relevant to your practice, and how you plan to convey the learned content to CANAP's members.  
  • Two to three paragraphs exploring your view of what it means to be an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and how you exemplify the qualities of leadership and professionalism.
  • A list stating membership to professional organizations, the number of years in the stated organizations, and your involvement in those organizations (including CANAP)
  • Current member of CANAP
 

 

Doctoral Studies Scholarship

 

The Doctoral Studies Scholarship was founded to help fund the costs involved with pursuing a higher degree.   Any Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, that is a student in a doctoral program, and meets the guidelines below is eligible for this CANAP sponsored scholarship. The scholarship is currently $1,000.00. The scholarship is awarded once a year in October.  The application deadline for this  scholarship is September 30th. The application packet must be electronically submitted to the Scholarship Committee Chairperson by the established deadlines. Incomplete applications and/or applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. The application packet must include all of the following:

 

  • Copy of APRN liscense from your state of practice
  • Evidence of current enrollment in a Doctoral program
  • A brief description of how the candidate plans to use the money
  • One full page paper explaining the candidate’s doctoral thesis topic and how the topic will benefit the clients served and contribute to the body of nursing knowledge.
  • A list of past and current membership and leadership roles in professional organizations  
  • Current member of CANAP and list any committee participation or volunteer activities within the organization.
